Rashid Latif, Mohsin Khan Slam PCB Over Age-Fruad Controversy

Former Pakistan Cricket Team skipper Rashid Latif has recently slammed Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) over the age-fraud controversy. He wants PCB to take quick action regarding the age-fraud issue to maintain the standards of the Pakistan Team in the world cricket. The statement came after pace sensation Naseem Shah receiving a call-up for ICC U19 World Cup 2020.

In a tweet, Rashid Latif, who has always been critical of all the corruptions in the PCB, slammed the board over players’ not revealing their original age. He also urged the PCB to not make a joke of it in front of the world. Rashid Latif has also asked the board to have quality doctors to check the age of the players correctly.

The 16-year-old Naseem Shah was the latest Pakistan player to come under the scanner for age fraud after reports claimed the youngster’s real age is not what as shown on paper. Last month, he made his debut for Pakistan in Test cricket, in the latest, he received a call-up to appear for Pakistan in ICC U19 World Cup 2020.

“Pakistani Cricket Team’s players are going to U-19s. U-19s are going to U-16s, U-16s to U-13s & U-13s back to their mothers’ laps. For God’s sake PCB, correct the ages & don’t destroy (your reputation) by working with crooked diploma doctors, don’t make a joke of yourself,” Rashid Latif tweeted.

Apart from Rashid Latif, former opener and the ex-chief selector Mohsin Khan also raised his concern over the selection of Naseem Shah for the U19 World Cup. He feels the reputation of Pakistan Cricket goes down if a Test player is playing among the under-19 youngsters.

“It just shows that we are not developing players at the junior level and instead focus on winning events. Imagine a Test player playing alongside youngsters in the Junior World Cup. What impression does it create of Pakistan cricket,” Khan opined as per India Today.
