Fractured Finger Rules Jasprit Bumrah Out Of T20I and ODI Series Against England
India have suffered a huge blow ahead of the limited-series against England as their star pacer Jasprit Bumrah has been ruled out of the series. The white-ball specialist will be missing the forthcoming ODI and T20 series after fracturing his finger, as per Times of India.
The news outlet reported that Bumrah suffered the injury during the T20 series in Ireland on Friday. Bumrah will be returning home, hoping to be fit for the five-match Test series that starts in Birmingham on August 1.
“Bumrah’s injury will be a blow for the Indian team – considering his form and accuracy in shorter formats of the game. But he was very good in the Tests in South Africa as well and team management will hope that he gets fit in time for the Test series against England. It’s a big blow for India. Hope his replacement will do a good job of it,” a source told the news outlet.
Missing Bumrah was be a huge blow for India. Not only because he has done exceedingly well but because of England’s current form. The current world number one ODI side blew away Australia in the ODIs and T20Is.
England batsmen absolutely massacred the Australian bowlers in the series. In five games, they scored 300-plus total on three occasions. The two times they missed out was because they were chasing 200-plus totals.
In the third ODI, they had scored a staggering 481 for six – the highest-ever total in the ODI history. They had also dominated the one-off T20, scoring 221 before restricting Australia to 193.
In Bumrah’s absence, the team management is likely to add Shardul Thakur or Rajasthan pacer Deepak Chahar as possible replacement. Both the pacers have done well for India A which is currently touring England.
India will play three T20Is and three ODIs in England, starting July 3. After that, the five-Test series will get undeway.
