The intense rivalry between India and Pakistan needs no introduction. For the fans, any cricket match between the two neighbours is more than a mere game between bat and ball. It is safe to say that the celebrated rivalry transcends sport and the fact that both the countries are not playing bilateral series at the moment due to escalating political tensions very much proves that.

But at a time when nothing is clear as far as the resumption of bilateral ties between India and Pakistan are concerned, India opener Shikhar Dhawan has won over millions of hearts in Pakistan with a beautiful gesture. The southpaw, on Thursday (January 19), posted a message on Twitter for Pakistan all-rounder Shoaib Malik who was hit on the head during his team’s fourth ODI against New Zealand in Hamilton.

Hoping for a speedy recovery, Dhawan tweeted:

“Janab @realshoaibmalik, hope you’re recovering well and will be fit soon to be back on the field! Take care.”

Floored by Dhawan’s beautiful gesture, the Pakistan fans came in numbers to thank the India batting star for the get-well-soon tweet.

Meanwhile, Malik had earlier tweeted that he was well after being hit on the back of the head while running between the wickets. Malik had continued batting after the mishap but had shown signs of a delayed concussion and did not take the field in the second innings.
