Suresh Raina, who is a veteran of 193 IPL fixtures, is also one of the most consistent batsmen in the tournament history. MS Dhoni’s deputy at the franchise is responsible for the yellow army lifting the trophy three times. With 5368 runs so far, the flamboyant left-handed batsman is the second-highest run-getter. Not only does Raina possess the ability to stabilise the innings but also slam the big shots when needed.

The 33-year old is also a brilliant fielder, taking some outstanding catches in history while even acknowledging the player’s efforts. Suresh Raina retired from international cricket more than a month ago along with former Indian captain MS Dhoni; however, declared his intention to continue playing franchise cricket. It is worth noting that the left-hander underwent a family tragedy of late, suffering the death of his uncle, having attacked by some goons.

Gautam Gambhir opines that the three-time champions might face troubles, considering they do not have Suresh Raina at number three. He added that former Australian all-rounder Shane Watson has not played competitive cricket since long; hence, one would want to know who opens with him and face the world-class bowlers.

There will be a challenge for Chennai Super Kings considering they do not have Suresh Raina batting at No. 3. Shane Watson has not played international cricket for a long time, so we would want to know who will open with him and how will these batsmen face these bowlers,” Gambhir said in the Star Sports’ show Cricket Connected.
