GT vs SRH: Twitterverse Mightily Impressed With Umran Malik As He Picks His Maiden IPL Five-Wicket Haul

Umran Malik was the darling of the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) as he picked his maiden five-wicket haul in his Indian Premier League career, which came against the Gujarat Titans (GT) on April 27, 2022, at the Wankhede Stadium when the two teams clashed in the IPL 2022.

Umran Malik was the one who picked all the first five Gujarat Titans wickets to fall as Sunrisers Hyderabad recovered from an early onslaught by Wriddhiman Saha in their defense of the 196-run target.

SRH had batted first after Hardik Pandya won the toss and chose to bowl and thanks to Abhishek Sharma’s 65 in 42 balls with 3 sixes and 6 fours and Aiden Markram contributing with 56 in 40 balls, SRH were looking good for a decent total. But that final total got 25 runs added to them in the last over as Marco Jansen and Shashank Singh (25* in 6 balls) hit Lockie Ferguson for 4 sixes and took the final total to 195/6 in 20 overs.

After Wriddhiman Saha hit an onslaught of made 68 in 38 balls with 11 fours and 1 six, Kane Williamson finally got out his trump card, as Umran Malik was brought out to bowl and he made an immediate impact as he castled Shubman Gill with a brilliant yorker and then bounced out GT captain Hardik Pandya.

Saha, who was looking good to take GT towards the target, was undone by a searing 153 kph yorker from Umran. And then David ‘Killer’ Miller, received a 148 kph inswinger which pitched at length and uprooted his middle stump and Abhinav Manohar was just unlucky to come to bat at a time when Umran had his tail up and received a length ball at the middle stump clocking at 146 kph and was clean bowled.

Umran Malik finished with figures of 5/25, picking all the five GT wickets to fall.

The Twitterverse was all giddy for the young star from J&K and tweeted their praises and lauded Umran Malik on Twitter.
