India allrounder Hardik Pandya has hit the ground running after returning to action following a lengthy injury layoff. Hardik Pandya last played for India during the T20I series against South Africa in September and was recovering from a back injury.
The 26-year old underwent a successful surgery in October last year to treat an acute lower-back injury. The back injury was bothering him since the 2018 Asia Cup. In December, he was named in the India A squad for the one-day games in New Zealand.
However, he was later pulled out of the team as he was not match ready. The selectors had picked him in the squad without testing him in the Ranji Trophy matches.
Well, the long injury seems to have not taken any toll on his form as he blasted a whirlwind century off just 37 deliveries in the ongoing DY Patil T20 Cup. After scoring 38 in his comeback game last week, Hardik Pandya, who is representing Reliance 1 in the tournament, slammed 105 off 39 balls in an incredible knock against CAG, which included 7 fours and 10 sixes.
It was a typical Hardik Pandya innings as he hit the shots in all corners of the ground. He almost toyed with the CAG bowlers who were taken to the cleaners by the hard-hitting allrounder. The right-handed batsman also reached his century with a six over midwicket.
In the 15th over of the innings, the Mumbai Indians star went berserk as he slammed V.Jivarajan for 26 runs, which included three sixes and two fours. Riding on Hardik Pandya’s knock, Reliance eventually ended their innings at 252/5 in 20 overs.
Meanwhile, his India teammate Shikhar Dhawan failed with the bat again as he was dismissed on a duck. Dhawan is also returning to action through this tournament.
