With Hardik Pandya continuing his red-hot form with the bat in Australia, the calls for his inclusion in the Test squad have increased. Hardik Pandya starred with the bat on Sunday, helping India thrash Australia by six wickets in the second T20I and clinch the three-match series with a match in hand.

He played a match-winning knock of 42* off 22 balls as India chased down 195 with two balls remaining. His knock was studded with two sixes and three fours. Those two sixes came in the final over when India needed 14 runs as he sealed the victory in style.

The India allrounder has been in sensational form with the bat at present. In the preceding ODI series, he was India’s highest run-scorer after registering scores of 90 and 92*. Before that, he had starred for Mumbai Indians in IPL 2020, helping the team win a record fifth IPL title.

While Hardik Pandya is an integral member of India’s Test team, he was not included in the squad for the upcoming series because of the back injury he had sustained last year. He is yet to resume bowling in full flow and the team-management is not willing to put extra pressure on him either.

However, the allrounder has said that he would not mind if he is asked to stay in Australia for the Test series.

“It’s a different ball game, I think I need to be, I mean I don’t mind but at the end of the day, the call is on the management. So, yeah, I don’t think I can say much about it,” Hardik Pandya said after the second T20I.

The Test series is scheduled to start from December 17 in Adelaide. India will be without their skipper Virat Kohli for the three of the four Tests. The skipper will return home after the series-opener to attend the birth of his first child.
