India allrounder Hardik Pandya underwent successful surgery to treat the lower back injury. The injury has troubled the ace since the Asia Cup last year when he suffered the injury for the first time while playing against Pakistan. The injury compelled him to miss the home series against West Indies as well as the Test series in Australia.

He returned to action on the tour of New Zealand and went on to play the Indian Premier League as well as the World Cup. Recently, he missed the tour of West Indies due to the same problem. Hardik Pandya made his much-awaited comeback in the T20I series against South Africa but failed to make the cut for the ongoing Test series against the Proteas. The Baroda star is now out of action for an indefinite team and is likely to take nearly five months to recover.

He took to Instagram to inform his followers of his successful surgery and also thanked his well-wishers. Posting a picture from the hospital bed, Hardik Pandya tweeted:

“Surgery done successfully ? Extremely grateful to everyone for your wishes ❣️ will be back in no time ! Till then miss me ?”

Hardik Pandya is the second key member in the Indian team after premier speedster Jasprit Bumrah to suffer back issues. Bumrah suffered a stress fracture in his back and was ruled out of the series against South Africa. He is likely to travel to United Kingdom to assess his injury.

The Indian team-management will be desperate to have Hardik back in the team as early as possible. The fast-bowling allrounder is an automatic  choice into the team across formats. With Team India eyeing next year’s T20 World Cup, a fit Hardik is a must for the team.
