As the deadly virus delayed the start of the Indian Premier League 2020, the experts are coming up with their unique analysis to engage with the fans on social media. In the latest, the notable cricket expert Harsha Bhogle named his five defining moments of Mumbai Indians (MI) in the IPL history so far.

5. A star is born – Jasprit Bumrah

Harsha Bhogle picked Jasprit Bumrah as the find of the franchise. His debut against Royal Challengers Bangalore was quite a story during that time. Jasprit Bumrah was smashed to three boundaries by Virat Kohli in his first-ever IPL over. However, what followed that was a ribbon-cutting to his glorious cricketing career.

Bumrah trapped Virat Kohli plumb in front of the wicket and later dismissed Mayank Agarwal and Karun Nair to finish the game with three wickets in his four-over quota. Since then, he became the champion player for Mumbai and went on to become a top-class international bowler.

4. Mission Impossible in 2014:

Mumbai Indians sealed the final spot in 2014 playoffs in a dramatic way. They thrashed Rajasthan Royals (RR), to seal the spot on the basis of NRR. Chasing 190 runs on the board and NRR being the main issue, Mumbai Indians are up for quite a chase. But, they never disappointed, as Corey Anderson was on the hunt and the first-ball six of Aditya Tare was the cherry on the cake. Harsha Bhogle feels it was one of the defining moments for Mumbai.

Then, Harsha Bhogle picked the maiden title in 2013 as one of the high moments for Mumbai in IPL. After finishing second in the league stage, they thrashed table-toppers Chennai Super Kings to seal the maiden title.

2. Lasith Malinga defends 2 runs in 1 ball to win IPL 2019:

It was nine to win off six balls as the finals of 2019 IPL boiled down to the last over. Finally, it was down to two off the last ball and that is when Lasith Malinga pulled out a slower cutter which was too good for Shardul Thakur off the last ball.

Thakur just had to get bat on ball but he could not do that as Mumbai edged out Chennai by a run to clinch a record fourth IPL title. Malinga emerged as the last over hero as he powered Mumbai to win with all his experience.

He feels that Rohit’s maturity as a captain and doing the job more often than not is the top defining moment for Mumbai Indians. The Mumbaikar is the only captain to win four IPL titles with a winning percentage of 58.65%
