India’s former skipper MS Dhoni has always been a player who has embraced the pressure situations with open arms. Dhoni has never backed down from tensed situations and he has delivered the goods whenever the pressure is sky high. In fact, it is never easy for a player or captain to maintain his cool when the going gets tough.

Dhoni is a kind of helmsman who is the master in steading the ship whenever there is a thunderstorm. In fact, he has driven the ship to the shore without any wreckage on numerous occasions.

Dhoni has been a legend.

MS Dhoni has a majestic record whenever he has remained unbeaten. He has an average of 99.85 in successful run-chases of the team. Thus, he has been instrumental in the success of the team.

“There are many players with talent and good technique who never get the success they deserve. I believe the missing ingredient is mental control — that’s my strength. The mind plays a very big part in the performance.”

“I love the challenge and the pressure. They have always pushed me to do well. People say a lot of negative things about pressure. Pressure to me is just added responsibility. That is how I look at it. It’s not pressuring when God gives you an opportunity to be a hero for your team and your country,” MS Dhoni said as quoted by Mid Day.

Dhoni has delivered the goods in tensed situations.

A million hopes rest on the shoulders of the player and Dhoni has taken some of the best decisions for the Indian cricket. He has lived up to the expectations with great accuracy and he has been a big servant of the Indian cricket.

In fact, there are two ways to look at a single situation. A glass may be half-filled to some whereas it may be half empty to others. It is all about the perception of an individual. This is what separates boys from men and players like MS Dhoni from other players.

“Every player should regard the journey to success as an exciting and challenging learning experience. Even for the very talented player’s performance is a learning process that takes time, effort and persistence. If you are motivated to learn you will learn something new every day. God gives natural gifts to all of us. We need to realize that and work to strengthen them and to learn and improve in those areas where our weaknesses lie.”

Dhoni believes a player should not only enjoy his own success but also he should help nurture the young players and create the right atmosphere. The talisman Indian batsman has always created that environment for the young players in which they are able to excel to the best of their ability.

Dhoni has been a master.

“Not only should the player enjoy his own performance on the field, but he should also get pleasure from sharing his experiences with other players, and from creating an atmosphere that helps the guy sitting next to him in the dressing room to perform better. This is one area where the Indian team is very blessed. The senior players in our team have helped the younger players to learn, develop and perform better. Individual performance is important but how much better you help your teammates to perform is equally important.”

It is natural that players feel the pressure when they represent their country at the topmost level. However, is cognizance of the fact that a player is expected to get more success if he wears a calm head on his shoulder. MS Dhoni has been able to do that in his career of almost 15 years. He had led the team with aplomb and his calm and composed mind helped him in reaching the new heights of the cricket world.
