Sarkar bats in top-rung and on occasions, he featured in middle-order as well. However, Soumya Sarkar said he is ready to bat to bat at any spot for his country and deliver when it matters.

The opening batsman of Bangladesh, Anamul Haque displayed a terrible performance in the recently concluded series against the Windies. Now, it seems Liton Das is most likely to get a chance to open the innings along with Tamim Iqbal.

It will be difficult for Sarkar to make his place in the top rung following his absence from the team for a long time. He played his last game in colourful jersey against the Windies in 2017.

However, Sarkar believes he can make a place in the squad for Asia Cup 2018. As per the sources, BCB wants to use his services lower down the order. While talking with the reports in Mirpur, Sarkar said,

“What matters the most is whether I can help the team win regardless of my batting position,”

“Doesn’t matter if I am opening or batting at seven, my job is to perform well, and if I can perform, the team will also get some support. If I have to play there, then I will try to play according to the situation,” he added

Sarkar is handy with the ball as well. His inputs while batting would solve the middle-order worry for Bangladesh in the Asia Cup 2018.

“I am always ready to bowl if that suits the purpose of the team,” Sarkar said.

“When I began my career at that point we had only one or two pace bowlers but now as there are three pace bowlers so now I don’t get that opportunity like before,” he added.
