Pujara recently responded on the constant comparison and said that it is a great honor for him to bespoken in the same breathe as with Rahul DravidRahua. The Test specialist has been a keen learner he has often credited Dravid for his constant growth.

Pujara on comparisons with Rahul Dravid

“It is a big honor for me but it’s not the right comparison because I still have a lot of things to achieve in my life and someone like Rahul Bhai who has played all the formats, scored more than 10,000 runs in Tests and ODIs, he’s played T20 format as well. So I still have a lot of achieving and I’m still learning. I’m at an age where I have taken a lot of guidance from him, luckily he’s always available,” Pujara was quoted as saying by India Today.

Cheteshwar Pujara and his contrasting stats

Pujara has been a prolific scorer in Test cricket. In 75 matches, the right-hander has amassed 5740 runs at a staggering average of 49.48. Having made his debut back in 2010, Pujara’s presence has been a major factor in India winning home and away games on a regular basis.

However, the same can’t be said about his tryst in white-ball cricket. Unlike Dravid, Pujara hasn’t been a seasoned campaigner in India’s limited over cricket. In five ODIs, the Saurashtra-born cricketer has managed to score mere 51 runs.

On the other hand, Dravid scored over 10,000 runs in ODIs itself. Pujara has often said that he would like to play more games in the limited-overs cricket. But with the numerous dashers waiting in the wings, Pujara’s ambition in colored clothing looks like a distant dream.
