In a sensational revelation, India pace star Mohammed Shami has revealed that he thought of committing suicide thrice due to personal reasons. The fast-bowler, who is one of the best pacers in the world right now, was interacting with his teammate Rohit Sharma on Instagram when he made the startling revelation.

The Bengal star had gone through a turbulent period a couple of years ago when his estranged wife Hasin Jahan levelled some sensational allegations against him.  She had alleged her husband was having extra-marital affairs with several women. She even claimed the pacer was physically assaulting and threatening her over a period of almost two years and further accused him of age-fudging, match-fixing.

The off field controversies indeed took a toll on Mohammed Shami as he suffered a road accident in March 2018 and also failed the yo-yo test. But he did not take long to turn things around and has not looked back since then. He is now an indispensable part of the Test side and has also reclaimed his spot in the ODI team.

“I had to go through some personal issues, the media was giving very wide coverage to my personal problems, I think if my family had not supported me I would not have made it, I also thought of committing suicide thrice. Someone used to stay with me 24*7,” Mohammed Shami told Rohit on Instagram live.

“We were living on 24th floor. They (family) were scared I might jump from the balcony. It’s a big thing when you have the support of family. My parents asked me to focus on cricket to recover from that phase. My brother supported me a lot. My 2-3 friends used to stay with me for 24 hours. I might have done something to myself if these people were not there with me,” he added.
