After breaking into England’s World Cup squad, Jofra Archer has set his ambitions high as he looks to make a mark on the grandest stage of the game. England sensationally dropped David Willey from their preliminary squad to make room for Archer who made his international debut just a few days ago. Along with Archer, Liam Dawson and James Vince broke into the team too, replacing Joe Denly and Alex Hales respectively.

And as Archer gears up for the World Cup, he has said he would like to dismiss Virat Kohli, arguably the best batsman in the world right now. Archer has already played against Kohli this year in the IPL but could not get the wicket of the India superstar. The Barbados-born fast bowler also expressed his desire of picking up the wicket of West Indies star Chris Gayle.

“I would quite like to get Virat out,” Archer told Sky Sports. “I wasn’t able to get him in the IPL. And probably Chris Gayle again but I want to have an impact in whatever games I do play in and take as many wickets as possible.”

India and England, meanwhile, will lock horns in a blockbuster World Cup clash on June 30 at Edgbaston. Well, Archer has already sent a warning to Kohli who loves to be challenged. Archer, meanwhile, found a place in the England World Cup squad due to his express pace. The right-arm pacer can bowl at a blistering speed of  90mph which would definitely help England in a tournament which is being tipped to be very high scoring.

Archer further opened up on the toughest batsman he has bowled to so far. The allrounder picked his England team-mate Jos Buttler, saying that the wicketkeeper-batsman was the toughest player he played against – in the nets.

“He is a 360 cricketer,” Archer said. “He can hit you straight down the ground or over the keepers head. I don’t think anywhere is safe with him.”
