ICC Test Rankings 2018: Impressive Gains for England, Bangladesh Players

The last few weeks have seen a lot of red-ball cricket getting played across the globe. Bangladesh hosted the Windies, Pakistan hosted the Kiwis while England toured Sri Lanka. We came across some scintillating performances by certain individuals to help their side passing the victory line. Eventually, it made a massive difference in ICC Test Rankings chart as well.

Meanwhile, Jonny Bairstow, who scored a stunning century against Sri Lanka in the final Test of the series saw him jumping six places on the chart. Now, he is placed at 16th while Bangladesh centurion, Mominul Haque is the other player in the gainers’ list. He increased his rank by 11 positions to end up taking 24th rank.

Virat Kohli continues to lead ICC Test Rankings in batting:

In the list led by Virat Kohli, Azhar Ali moved three places to be at number 12 while Sri Lanka’s Kaushal Silva gained eight places to sit at 20th on the table. Ben Stokes and Roshen Silva are up by five places to take 31st and 47th, respectively.

Jos Buttler is at 18th, who was up by three places and Pakistan’s Haris Sohail is at 38th, who was up by 33 spots. Meanwhile, Babar Azam was up by 24 places to get 39th while the newbie Ben Foakes got 50th rank. Nicholas for the Kiwis is the gainer, who ranked 17th.

Kagiso Rabada – The new number one bowler

James Anderson, who was leading the chart lost one per cent of his points for his absence in the Colombo Test. It made Kagiso Rabada take the number one position. Apart from this, spinners have taken a huge boost in their rankings.

Taijul Islam is at a career-high 21st position, who was up by six places. Ben Stokes is the only fast bowler to take the gains, who placed at 28th, after gaining three places. Also, Devendra Bishoo is at 32nd, whereas, Adil Rashid is at 36th position.

Jack Leach, Lakshan Sandakan and Malinda Pushpakumara are the other significant gainers, who are placed 41st, 45th and 61st respectively.
