ICC World Cup 2019: Mohammed Shami - First Indian Bowler To Take Three Consecutive Four-Wicket Hauls

India’s gun fast bowler Mohammed Shami has become the first Indian bowler to take consecutive three four-wicket hauls in the World Cup. Shami who got a chance into the playing XI in place of injured Bhuvneshwar Kumar has been on fire since he played his maiden match of the World Cup. The fast bowler has thus far scalped 13 wickets in the tournament in the three matches he has played.

Shami had bagged the first hat trick of the ongoing ICC World Cup 2019. The pacer had returned with the figures of 4-40 against Afghanistan. Shami continued his dream form going against West Indies as he took 4-16. Subsequently, he bagged a five-wicket haul against England and took 5-69 against England in the ongoing fixture at Edgbaston, Birmingham. Thus, he became the sixth Indian bowler to take a fifer in the World Cup match.

Shami has been brilliant.

Shami has bowled with fire in the powerplay overs and he didn’t have the rub of the green on his side in the initial phase of the innings against England. However, Shami was on the expensive side in the death overs against England.

Shami has bowled with a great seam-up position and he hits the right channel to breathe down the neck of the opposition batters. The Bengal-based pacer has been right on the money and he would like to continue his good form going in the World Cup.

In fact, Shami wasn’t the first choice seamer as Bhuvneshwar Kumar was given his opportunity. Kumar also didn’t do bad as he snared five wickets in the first two matches. However, Kumar’s loss was Mohammed Shami’s gain.

Meanwhile, England has posted a gargantuan score of 337 runs and India would have their work cut out to chase down the total. Jonny Bairstow scored a brilliant hundred for the hosts whereas Jason Roy and Ben Stokes scored half-centuries.
