The ICC World Cup 2019 in round the corner and all the participating team’s are gearing up for the marquee event. England and Wales will host the 12th edition of the tournament starting from May 30. Pakistan will play against England in a five-match ODI series to gear up for the showpiece event. Pakistan skipper Sarfraz Ahmed is optimistic about beating arch-rivals Indian National Cricket Team in the World Cup. Incidentally, Pakistan has not defeated the Men in Blues in this biggest cricketing extravaganza.

Meanwhile, the Men in Greens will lock horns against India on June 18 at the Old Trafford. The match has garnered a lot of interest which was in doubt after the recent Pulwama attack. There were speculations that India might skip the match to register their protest. The match has already got almost 500000 applications for tickets for a 25000 seater in Old Trafford.

Pakistan upbeat to India in the World Cup

Pakistan have only defeated India in the ICC event in the finals of 2017 Champions Trophy. They handed Virat Kohli & Co a massive defeat to lift their first Champions Trophy. During an interview with Saleem Khaliq, a Pakistani journalist, Sarfraz Ahmed revealed that to go a long way in the World Cup, Pakistan needs to play against all oppositions and not only concentrate on India. However, he did accept the fact any match against India is a big game and they are always upbeat to beat their arch-rivals just like their fans always hope for.

During the interview, Sarfraz Ahmed further revealed that an India-Pakistan clash is the most discussed match in the World Cup. He also added the fans meeting the players either in the market place or elsewhere always asks them to win the match against India. Sarfraz added that he tries to make the fans understand that as a skipper his job is to ensure that his team plays good cricket against all teams and not only India.

Pakistan will start their World Cup campaign against Windies on May 31.
