ICC World Cup 2019: Top Five Fastest Bowlers in the Tournament

The fast bowlers of all the ten participating team have impressed with their brisk pace. Not only these gun fast bowlers have impressed with their raw pace but also they have been right on the money with their bowling. In fact, the ICC World Cup 2019 was expected to be dominated by the batsmen, however, it hasn’t been the case in all the matches.

The likes of Jasprit Bumrah, Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins, Oshane Thomas, Jofra Archer and Mark Wood have touched high speeds on the speedometer. We take at the top five fastest bowlers in the ongoing ODI showpiece who have bowled the fastest deliveries in the World Cup.

Wahab Riaz has once again impressed with his brisk pace. In fact, Riaz is well known for his fiery spell against Shane Watson in the 2015 World Cup when he had breathed down the neck of the batsman. Riaz has touched 149 km/h on the speedometer and has bowled with good pace. The southpaw seamer has scalped four wickets in the three matches he has thus far played for Pakistan.

The New Zealand pacer has impressed with his quick pace. Thus, the Kiwi gun fast bowler has troubled the opposition batsmen with his fiery pace. The right-arm pacer has consistently bowled above 145 km/h. Ferguson has also reaped fruits for bending his back as he has thus far scalped 16 wickets in six matches he has played. The pacer has bowled with a maximum speed of 152 km/h which he bowled against Pakistan.

The talisman fast bowler was the leading wicket-taker of the 2015 World Cup. In fact, Starc had not played in the white ball format since a long time, however, there was no decrease in his pace despite the going through the injury. Starc has bowled at the top of his game and has delivered the goods for Australia. The left-arm pacer has bowled with a maximum speed of 152 km/h.

2. Jofra Archer

Jofra Archer has breathed down the neck of the opposition batsmen with his sheer pace. Archer has a great run-up which helps in extracting brisk pace. The lanky fast bowler also uses his height to get the extra bounce from the surface. Archer has bowled consistently in the corridor of uncertainty and he has troubled the best in the business with his pace. The Jamaican born had catapulted a thunderbolt at a speed of 153 km/h.

Mark Wood has also impressed with his pace. The fast bowler has a short run-up and he can generate great speed. However, Wood follow-through is not the greatest and he often loses his balance. However, Wood jump near the stumps helps him in generating express pace. The fast bowler has consistently bowled around the 150 km/h mark. Wood has bowled the fastest delivery of 154km/h in the World Cup.
