ICC World Cup 2019: Virat Kohli Overtakes Rahul Dravid's Tally of ODI Runs

Indian skipper Virat Kohli has gone past former captain Rahul Dravid‘s tally of runs in the One Day International format. Kohli required 20 runs before the second World Cup match against Australia to overtake Rahul Dravid. The talisman batsman scored a fine knock of 82 runs from 77 balls and helped India reach a gargantuan score of 352 runs after electing to bat first. Kohli scored four fours and two sixes in his fine knock.

Kohli now has 10,943 runs in the 50-overs format in the 229 ODI matches he has played whereas Rahul Dravid had scored 10889 runs in the 334 One Day matches. Dravid had scored 12 hundred in his One Day career whereas Kohli has thus far scored 41 centuries. Kohli has been the most consistent batsman in the world and he is churning out new records with every game.

Kohli was at his best.

In fact, there is no doubt that Kohli’s success is going to be proportional to the success of the team. Kohli is the best batsman in the world and he would aim to be at the top of his game right throughout the World Cup.

On the other hand, India has put a gargantuan score of 352 runs against Australia. India’s openers added a fine partnership of 127 runs to give a fine platform to the side. Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan took their time in the initial phases of the innings and then attacked the Australian bowlers to get going.

Shikhar Dhawan scored a fine hundred which was his 17th and the third ton of his World Cup career. Dhawan scored 16 fours in his blistering knock whereas Rohit Sharma scored a good knock of 57 runs.

Hardik Pandya added the finishing touches as he smashed 48 runs from 27 balls. Furthermore, MS Dhoni also helped India finish on a high as he clobbered 27 runs from 14 balls.
