England’s opening batsman Jason Roy celebrated his hundred in style. Jason Roy played a grounded shot towards deep square leg and didn’t take his eyes off the ball while running. Subsequently, Roy bumped into standing umpire Joel Wilson and knocked him over. Roy was quick to check on the umpire and later celebrated his 9th ODI century with Joe Root. This is right-hander’s first hundred at the World Cup stage.

Meanwhile, Jason Roy took his time in the initial stages. Roy and his opening partner Jonny Bairstow added a fine alliance of 128 runs for the opening stand to give a fine platform to their team. The right-handers were able to hit the ground running and the Bangladesh side is on the back foot now as England is looking good for a gargantuan score.

On the other hand, Bangladesh skipper Mashrafe Mortaza won the toss and decided to bowl first in Sophia Gardens, Cardiff. Bairstow scored a fine knock of 51 runs before he top-edged one from Mashrafe Mortaza and Mehidy Hassan took a good catch while diving forward.

Meanwhile, Jason Roy is currently batting on 124 runs with the help of 14 fours and two sixes. Thus, England is in a strong position and they have put their noses in front.
