Pakistan Cricket Team’s poor run in the ICC World Cup 2019 continues as they went down against India by 89 runs at the Old Trafford in Manchester. Notably, Pakistan are yet to beat India in a World Cup game, and this is their seven consecutive loss to India. Meanwhile, the players showed no passion to win the match which didn’t go well with the fans and they vented their anger at the end of the game.

Batting first, India rode onto the masterclass from Rohit Sharma to post 336 runs on the board. Rohit chipped in with 140 runs while skipper Virat Kohli and KL Rahul scored individual fifties to take the score over the 300-run mark. Meanwhile, it was the new opening pair Rohit and Rahul who laid the platform with a 136-run opening partnership. They dominated the game right from the word go and dictated terms throughout the match. Although Rahul got out after a well-made 57, Kohli ensured the run-rate doesn’t go down.

However, at one stage, it looked like India were in well in line to cross the 350-run mark. But Mohammad Amir pulled things back in style as Vijay Shankar and Kedar Jadhav struggled to get going and managing to post 336 runs on the board. Meanwhile, this proved enough for Pakistan, who had earlier stunned the host England in the World Cup. Vijay Shankar, who came in replacement for injured Bhuvneshwar Kumar in the middle of the over, removed Imam-ul-Haq to provide an early breakthrough.

Although Babar Azam and Fakhar Zaman staged a good partnership but once Kuldeep Yadav broke the partnership it was all over for Pakistan. Kuldeep struck one more while Hardik Pandya chipped in two wickets with consecutive balls before the rain pouring down. The revised target read, Pakistan needed 136 runs from 30 deliveries which looked impossible for Sarfraz Ahmed & Co. Imad Wasim tried his best as Pakistan fell short by 89 runs.
