For the second game in a row, India dropped points in the ongoing ICC World Test Championship as they lost the second Test against New Zealand. The Black Caps thrashed the world number one Test side by seven wickets to sweep the two-match series.

India’s bowlers came up with a fine show in the first innings to give the team a slender seven run lead. The Virat Kohli-led side had managed to score only 242 in the first innings but the bowlers bowled out the hosts for 235 to give the tourists slight advantage.

However, India’s batsmen failed miserably in the second innings as the team was all out for just 124 to set the home side a target of 132. In reply, New Zealand rode on fifties from their openers Tom Latham and Tom Blundell to chase down the total with ease.

ICC World Test Championship Points Table:

Despite the defeat, India remain at the top of the points table with 360 points. No other team has managed to touch the 300-point mark so far. New Zealand, on the other hand, leapfrogged Pakistan to take the fourth spot after taking all the 120 points in the series. The Black Caps have 180 points. Australia are second with 296 points while England are third with 146 points. Pakistan (140) complete the top five.
