If India Cricket Stars Were Indian Politicians

Bharatiya Janta Party’s (BJP) landslide win and their bold governance have really made the youth of India take interest in politics. Despite India being the biggest democracy in the world, there was a phase when the involvement of youth in politics was abysmal. But things are fast changing at the moment and the signs ahead are very promising.

Unlike politics, cricket has always been very appealing to the people of all age and gender. In fact, it would not be very wrong to say that the most of the Indians are obsessed with cricket. Just like Virat Kohli is hellbent on making India the best cricket team in the world, the politicians are also trying the same with the nation. But what if instead of politicians or leaders, it was a roster full of cricketers.

Here, we re-imagine the big players in Indian politics with our cricketing superstars:

10. Rahul Dravid – Manohar Parikkar:

There are very few cricketers who are as humble and down to earth like Rahul Dravid. The former India skipper is known for his humble nature just like former defense minister Manohar Parikar who passed away earlier this year.

Both the great men are known for their hard-working nature, simplicity and love to live life like a common man.

9. Rohan Gavaskar – Rahul Gandhi:

Both Gavaskar junior and Gandhi junior decided to follow in the footsteps of their famous fathers. However, both of them have failed miserably. Son of the legendary Sunil Gavaskar, Rohan Gavaskar did go on to make his international debut but could not make much of a mark and was soon dropped. He is now trying his hands at commentary.

On the other hand, Rahul Gandhi, son of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, is also yet to make any big mark in politics whatsoever.

8. Yograj Singh – Digvijay Singh:

Neither of the two need any sort of introduction. Both Yograj and Digvijay make it to the news for all the wrong reasons more often than not. Both just love to give controversial statement every now and then. While Digvijay has made it a habit of ranting against the current government and the BJP leaders, Yograj’s love for slamming MS Dhoni is also well known.

7. Ravichandran Ashwin – Jayalalithaa:

It is an interesting coincidence that both Ashwin and Jayalalithaa are from Tamil Nadu. Just like former chief minister Jayalalithaa, Ashwin also has a stunning record in home conditions. But away from home, both have poor records.

6. VVS Laxman – Manmohan Singh:

Both Manmohan Singh and VVS Laxman love to let their work do the talking. Instead of relying on their mouths, the legendary duo relied more on their skills. While Laxman is regarded as one of the finest batsmen the country has ever produced, Manmohan Singh is one of the biggest economists of the nation in addition to serving as the Prime Minister twice.

5. Virender Sehwag – Lalu Prasad Yadav:

Lalu Prasad Yadav is arguably the funniest politician the country has ever seen. The former chief minister of Bihar just loves to leave everyone in splits with his hilarious statements. Similarly, Virender Sehwag is also known for his funny statements. Both of them are also very outspoken in nature.

4. Sourav Ganguly – Atal Bihari Vajpayee

Former Prime Minister Atal Vihari Vajpayee transformed India with his views and put the country among the elite nations. Who can forget his bold decisions when the Kargil War was underway and India gave Pakistan a fitting reply. Similarly, Sourav Ganguly is also credited for transforming Indian cricket into world beaters. It was Ganguly’s bold approach that made India a fearless unit. Both India and its cricket team are now reaping the rewards of the hard work done by Vajpayee and Ganguly.

3. Sachin Tendulkar – Mahatama Gandhi:

Both Sachin Tendulkar and Mahatama Gandhi are the most decorated individuals in their respective fields. Given Tendulkar’s achievements in cricket, we had to dig deep into the Indian politics and he could be compared only to Gandhi, the father of the nation. Tendulkar holds almost every major batting record to his name and is widely regarded in the nation as the god of cricket.

2. Virat Kohli – Yogi Adityanath:

Dynamic, bold, outspoken and aggressive – these are some characters which define both Virat Kohli as well as Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath. Both just love to work tirelessly in their respective fields but sometime land in controversy because of their aggressive personalities.

1. MS Dhoni – Narendra Modi:

Both MS Dhoni and Narendra Modi started from humble backgrounds and reached the pinnacle of their respective fields through their sheer hard-work. MS Dhoni started as a ticket collector and went on to become India’s most decorated skipper. Narendra Modi, on the other hand, was a tea seller in his early days before entering politics and becoming the Prime Minister.
