The newly elected Prime Minister of Pakistan, Imran Khan’s party, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has invited some eminent Indian former cricketers to his oath-taking ceremony on August 1.

Meanwhile the party’s spokesperson, Fawad Chaudhry divulged on the names invited to the ceremony.

They have invited Sunil Gavaskar, Kapil Dev, and Navjot Singh Sidhu along with Bollywood actor Aamir Khan.

PTI led by Imran Khan emerged victorious, as the single largest party after July 25 election. However, they are still short of number to form an only party government. Khan on Monday said he would take the oath, as Prime Minister on August 11.

Previously, a party official admitted they are considering to invite leaders of SAARC countries, including Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. However, no further decision has been taken yet.

Chaudhry took to Twitter to admit that party will take a final call on foreign dignitaries after consulting with the foreign ministry.

Media speculations about international dignitaries attending PM oath ceremony are not correct. We have sought the advice of Foreign Office on the matter and will decide accordingly #PTI,” he said.

Meanwhile, Modi on Monday telephoned Khan to congratulate him on his party’s victory in the general elections. He also hoped that his party and India would work on new lines to improve the bilateral ties.

Imran Khan also thanked him in return and stressed on improving the bilateral ties.

The relations between India and Pakistan has remained tense since 2014. Former Prime Minister, Nawaz Sharif had travelled to Delhi to attend Modi’s oath-taking ceremony, and the Indian premier in December 2015 made a stopover in Lahore to greet his counterpart on his birthday.
