The stylish batsman took his time in the opening session, as he played a supporting role to more attacking Shikhar Dhawan. However, Vijay showed more application in his approach in the afternoon session.

Murali Vijay returned to form with a fine knock.

Meanwhile, Murali Vijay had got off to decent starts on the South African tour. Nonetheless, he was not able to make a substantial score. Subsequently, there were doubts over his form ahead of the historic Test match.

Furthermore, he played a solitary match for the IPL Champions, Chennai Super Kings. Thus, this hundred must have given him a shot in the arm before the pivotal England tour. However, Vijay will like to get a gargantuan score under his belt.

Meanwhile, Murali Vijay opening partner Shikhar Dhawan was on fire in the first session. The southpaw wrote his name in the history books after a blistering century in the first session of the historic Test match against Afghanistan in Bengaluru.

The left-hander batsman became the sixth player in the cricketing folklore to score a century before the lunch session on Day one of a Test match.

In fact, Dhawan became the first Indian batsman to achieve this feat. Furthermore, the Indian opener joined the elite list which also has Sir Don Bradman. Dhawan scored 19 boundaries and three maximums in his blistering knock.

Here is how Twitter reacted on Murali Vijay’s hundred:

Cricket is my first love. I want to be a wordsmith. I want to weave magic with my words.
