Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Ehsan Mani has taken a dig at India, saying that they cannot be relied upon as far as resumption of bilateral relations is concerned. The India-Pakistan bilateral relation is also at an all-time low thanks to Pakistan government’s failure to stop the cross-border terrorism.

The arch-rivals have not played a full bilateral Test series since 2007 when Pakistan visited India for three Tests and five One-Day Internationals. They played a short series of three ODIs and two T20s in India in December 2012, but otherwise, both have faced each other only in the ICC organised events or the Asia Cup.

Last year, there were also calls to boycott Pakistan in the World Cup after the Pulwama attack. On February 14, a suicide bomber from the Pakistan-based terror group Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) rammed an explosives-laden vehicle into a CRPF bus, killing at least 40 personnel and leaving many critically wounded.

But India eventually went on to play Pakistan in the World Cup and thrashed them in a lopsided contest. That was the last meeting between the two fierce rivals. Due to the constant cross-border terrorism, Indian government has made it clear that India would not play bilateral series against Pakistan.

On the other hand, Pakistan have been desperate to play against India. But it seems like they have finally realised it is tough for them to convince India for a bilateral series and Ehsan Mani’s latest comments pretty much proves that. He made it clear that Pakistan cannot depend on India anymore for resumption of bilateral ties.

“India are unreliable, we can’t rely on cricket resuming with them anytime in the foreseeable future. If it happens, good. We face them in ICC events, that’s fine. We’re interested in cricket and we keep politics and cricket separate,” said Ehsan Mani,
