Former Indian Women’s team player Diana Edulji feels India have a good chance of winning the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2020.
India are unbeaten so far at the tournament, having won all their games so far. They defeated New Zealand by four runs, to reach the semifinal but Diana has pointed out a few things that could have been better.
The former CoA member said that Indian opener Shafali Verma should look to put a price on her wicket. Diana also lauded Indian bowlers but said she expects more from the Indian batswomen.

Diana Edulji talks about India’s World Cup-winning chances, Shafali Verma:
In a recent interview with news agency ANI, Diana rallied the Indian ladies to get the cup considering that the other teams are all struggling for consistency.
She said, “This is the right time to get the Cup because all the teams are struggling. We have a very good chance of winning the Cup. I wish the side all the best, we should cross the barrier and reach the finals and hopefully get the Cup.”
Diana also lauded Indian opener Shafali who has been a revelation at the tournament so far. The young gun has scored 114 runs in the World Cup, helping India reach the semis.
“Poonam is our trump card, I wish Shafali could move ahead of 30s and 40s, and just understand the importance of her wicket and put a price on her wicket. I want Smriti and Harman to come into form so that the pressure is totally on the opposition. Someone has to score big and bat the complete twenty overs,” she continued.
The former Indian international further added, “We have been getting an explosive start in the powerplay, we should take advantage of that. Initially we never used to get such explosive starts at the top, but now we have this youngster (Shafali) who is batting fearlessly and the others should look to bat around her and not compete with her.”
After ousting New Zealand and confirming their birth in the semis, Harmanpreet Kaur’s side will next play with Sri Lanka on Saturday, 29th February.
