Former India seamer Zaheer Khan believes the month-long preparatory time ahead of the five-match Test series against England will be sufficient for the Indian cricketers to adjust to the weather conditions.

Meanwhile, the Indian team are to visit England, after hopping over from Ireland. They will play two T20I in June in Ireland. Post that, the Men in Blue will play three T20s and as many ODIs between July 3 and 17.

The visitors will then have the remainder of the July to practice and acclimatise to the weather and wickets before the start of the opening Test at Edgbaston on August 1.

Enough time to acclimatise

Zaheer feels there will be sufficient time for the players to acclimatise to the condition. He also added that England’s weather condition is not consistent so players will have to be in right frame of mind.

There will be more than enough time to acclimatise to the conditions. It certainly will give you enough time to acclimatise yourself. Most players are playing in more than one format and the key players will get used to wickets and conditions,” Zaheer said.

One thing with England is the weather is not consistent. In overcast conditions, the ball is going to swing. At the end of day you need the right frame of mind and right technique to deal with it as a bowler or batsman,” he added.

Meanwhile, India plays its rest of the Test matches in Lords, Trent Bridge, Southampton and the Kennington Oval. It will be an acid Test for Virat Kohli and his side to show their real mettle.

However, Kohli is likely to play for Surrey in the County Championship to prepare for the England series.
