Virat Kohli & Co have struggled in ICC tournaments in the last six years. They last won the ICC Champions Trophy in 2013 in England. They had another outfall in the ICC World Cup earlier this year losing to New Zealand in the semifinals.
Newly-appointed BCCI President Sourav Ganguly made it clear that India need to win ICC tournaments to spread their dominance in the world cricket. Skipper Virat Kohli also seconded that and the Men in Blues are likely to go all guns blazing for the ICC T20 World Cup.
With less than one year to go for the ICC T20 World Cup 2020, we at Cricket Addictor will take a look at how India could line up for the tournament:

Rohit Sharma
Rohit Sharma is one of the most devastating openers in modern-day cricket. He showed his brilliance during the 50-over World Cup hitting five centuries – the most by a batsman in history. The management will want Rohit to show his exploits in the ICC T20 World Cup 2020 in Australia and lead the batting unit from the front as India eye the prestigious trophy.
KL Rahul
The management has shown a lot of belief in the Karnataka-based opener KL Rahul, and the cricketer has delivered from time to time. With Shikhar Dhawan looking off colours and confidence doing down, Rahul will form the opening pair alongside Rohit Sharma. While inconsistency has been an issue with the talented batsman, but when on song, Rahul can tear apart any bowling unit across the globe.
Virat Kohli
Skipper Virat Kohli has been India’s go-to man in the last four-five years across formats. He will have to do the bulk of the scoring if India want to bring home the second ICC T20 World Cup title. Kohli has earned a tag of failing in big situations and will be desperate to shrug it off in Australia next year.
Shreyas Iyer
Team India has finally managed to settle their middle-order combinations. After their ouster from ICC World Cup 2019, the selectors brought in Shreyas Iyer for the no 4 spot, who has responded well. Iyer has looked confident and possess a good mixture of aggression and maturity which will give the Men in Blues a perfect cushion if they lose some early wickets.
Rishabh Pant
Rishabh Pant has been touted as MS Dhoni’s replacement. Although he has struggled to deliver as per his potential following the ICC World Cup 2019, the management has decided to give him a long run. Pant will have to keep his head down and work on his skills to make his first appearance in the ICC T20 World Cup 2020 memorable.
Manish Pandey
Manish Pandey has been one of the stalwarts for Karnataka in the last decade. He has lacked consistent opportunities in Team India, as a result of which, he has failed to replicate his effort in the international circuit. The middle-order batsman has finally started to live up to the expectations and Virat Kohli & Co will hope Pandey to deliver when they tour Australia for the T20 World Cup 2020.
Hardik Pandya
The dynamic all-rounder Hardik Pandya is the best in the country. His ability to contribute quick runs in the lower-order and then chip in with quick wickets in the middle-overs makes him one of rarest commodities in this line-up. Meanwhile, Pandya has been struggling with injuries off-late; however, the management will hope the young all-rounder to bet fit for the ICC T20 World Cup 2020 in Australia.
Washington Sundar
The young all-rounder Washington Sundar has been a go-to man for Virat Kohli during the powerplays. With Australian wickets offering a lot for the batsmen, Sundar will have to be at the top of his game to provide early breakthroughs. Besides, he can also chip with the bat which will strengthen India’s batting.
Deepak Chahar
Deepak Chahar has come up the ranks in the shorter formats after shinning for Chennai Super Kings. Recently, he became the first Indian to scalp a hattrick and also registered the best-ever T20I figures. The fast bowler from Rajasthan will be a key component for India in the ICC T20 World Cup 2020 in Australia.
Jasprit Bumrah
Jasprit Bumrah is currently the best fast bowler in the world. He is an important stakeholder in the current set-up. India will rely on Bumrah to be at his best and end their seven-year drought in the ICC organised events. The management will decide on his workload to keep his fresh for the premier tournament.
Yuzvendra Chahal
Yuzvendra Chahal has been at the heart of India’s spin attack in the limited-overs format for quite some time now. He has been India’s match-winner with the ball and will form a crucial part in the ICC T20 World Cup 2020 in Australia.
