Team India, both men and women will tour New Zealand in the late January and early February next year to play a limited-overs series. While the men’s team will play five one-dayers and three T20 games, the women’s team will clash off in three ODIs and as many T20Is.
Meanwhile, all the three T20Is in Wellington, Auckland and Hamilton will be double headers. Moreover, the women’s team will play their ODIs in Napier, Mt Maunganui and Hamilton. ODIs at each of the venue will be preceded by a game of the men’s team.
Furthermore, the A team of both the nations will also square off against each other during the New Zealand summer. They will play three four-dayers at Mt Maunganui, Seddon Park and Cobham Oval, followed by three 50-over games in Bay Oval.
“The India A side’s visit to New Zealand corresponds with NZC’s increased investment in the A programme, as announced in the new NZC-NZCPA Master Agreement, last week,” New Zealand Cricket (NZC) said in a release.
NZC CEO Anthony Crummy expressed his excitement over getting an opportunity to host both the Indian teams. He also noted that they are trying to spread cricket all over New Zealand during the school holiday period.
“We think it’s another strong schedule. We’ve continued the philosophy of taking international cricket to some of our most popular boutique grounds over the school holiday period. It’s exciting to have the India men’s and women’s team here. The men occupy the second spot in ODIs and T20s – and the women arrive as ICC Cricket World Cup finalists,” he said.
Crummy also stated that apart from the second T20I at Eden Park, all the other matches will start an hour later. NZC had an agreement with Indian broadcaster Star Sports.
Kiwis will start their summer against Sri Lanka
New Zealand’s home season will begin with a two-Test series against Sri Lanka, commencing on December 26. Sri Lanka, who will arrive in New Zealand in early December to play a warm-up game, will also take on the hosts in three ODIs and a one-off T20I.
The Kiwis will also play a three-Test series against Bangladesh in March after three ODIs. Hamilton, Wellington, and Christchurch will host all the games.
Meanwhile, NZC has expressed to host a day-night Test but couldn’t get the permission of the Bangladesh Cricket Board.
