Beyond the gentleman’s game cricket there is more to relish for the countries — to set a great bound apart from political commitments, as Team India’s super fan Sudhir Chaudhary has set a remarkable example by sponsoring India trip for the Sri Lankan counterpart and his best friend, Gayan Senanayaka.

Senanayake, who is the biggest supporter of his national team Sri Lanka, is concurrently witnessing the bilateral series in India.

“He is more than a friend to me now. We share a great bond,” Sudhir told Mid-day when being at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Stadium in Dharmasala.

It’s pertinent to mention that the gesture came to the four when Senanayaka sponsored Sudhir’s Sri Lanka trip for four times in the recent past.

“He took good care of me when I went to Sri Lanka — twice in 2012, then in 2015 when Kumar Sangakkara retired and now this (2017) year,” Sudhir reminisced.

Sudhir paid the money to Senanayaka for flight tickets which further include the travelling cost to witness the fixtures at different venues in India.

While coming with the help of Senanayaka, Sudhir further paid the cost of a visa fee as the latter added he has remembered what his Sri Lankan friend did for him in the past.

Sudhir revealed he had already made his heart to bear all the expenses of Senanayaka after returning from Sri Lanka early this year.

“I thought this time I should bear his expenses as he was planning to come for the entire series,” Sudhir pointed out.

Sudhir paid for Senanayaka for the three-Test which saw India winning the series by 1-0, as the bilateral series is spread over three One-day Internationals and three Twenty20 Internationals.

Sudhir, who is known for painting the tri-colour on his body, has further become a familiar face when it comes to the Indian cricket in a nutshell, as Senanayaka on the other side has been holding the flag of Sri Lanka high during their national fixtures.

Before the third and final Test in New Delhi, Gayan was able to fulfil his wish to see the iconic Taj Mahal in Agra.

“I am grateful to Sudhir for showing me, Taj Mahal. I always wanted to go there, but never got an opportunity,” delighted Senanayaka said.

However, Senanayake had praised the efforts of Sudhir which further saw him witness the historic mausoleum in the form of Taj Mahal in Agra before both witnessed the third and final Test at Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium in New Delhi.

Moreover, the biggest fan of Virat Kohli-led India who also goes by the name of Sudhir Kumar Gautam has suffered from poor financial conditions, as the legendary batsman and Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar in the past has come to the former’s rescue to witness the matches across the country which further include overseas competitions.
