Shikhar Dhawan (107) and Murali Vijay (105) added 168 runs for the first wicket. Indian batsmen dominated the first two sessions as the Afghans bowlers found it tough to make inroads.

However, the visitors came back strong as India lost five wickets cheaply to lift their spirits as the fag end. India finished the day at 346 for 6 with Hardik Pandya (10*) and Ravichandran Ashwin (7*) still at the crease.

The Afghans will look to bank on the momentum and wrap up the Indian inning in the morning session of day 2.
