Australia’s T20I debutant Peter Handscomb didn’t have an ideal start to his career in the shortest format. Handscomb sold his partner D’Arcy Short down the river when he called him for the second run. The right-hander played the ball towards the square leg region and showed interest to get back for the second.

Krunal Pandya who was the fielder was quick and gave an accurate throw to MS Dhoni. But Handscomb who called D’Arcy Short for the second run, stopped in the middle to leave his partner stranded in the middle of the pitch. Short was the settled batsman as he had scored a run-a-ball 37 with the help of five boundaries.

Handscomb didn’t have an ideal start to his T20I career.

Subsequently, there were two new batsmen at the crease to give a sniff to the Indian bowlers. Handscomb was dismissed in the penultimate over by Jasprit Bumrah when he top-edged the ball and could not get his timing right. The right-hander scored 13 runs from 15 balls to leave Australia in a spot of bother.

Jasprit Bumrah didn’t let the guests off the hook in the 19th over of the match. Bumrah scalped two wickets and gave away only two runs in the 19th over. The talisman gun fast bowler conceded only 16 runs in his four overs quota.

However, Umesh Yadav could not defend 14 runs off the final overs. Yadav could not execute his yorkers to perfection as he conceded two boundaries in the final over. Pat Cummins and Jhye Richardson held their nerves to get their team over the finishing line in the thrilling contest.

On the other hand, India had posted 126 in the first innings after Aaron Finch won the toss. KL Rahul scored 50 runs off 36 balls but the hosts kept losing wickets at regular wickets. Glenn Maxwell scored a counter-attacking inning of 56 runs to help Australia get close to the target.
