The series between India and Bangladesh has been nothing less than exceptional so far. Having won one each game so far, the third T20 international in Nagpur on Sunday should be another gripping contest. An under strength Bangladeshi team have proved heavyweights contrary to the expectations but would want to get few things right to pull off one of their biggest series wins.

On the other hand, India, with their victory in the second T20 international squared the series. But the hosts have their own share of woes, especially with their bowling in the powerplay overs. Rohit Sharma’s return innings in Rajkot bodes well for India. Someone in the middle-order needs to assume an anchor role to drive their side forward in the event of the top-order batters not clicking. The men in blue had a modest total to chase on a flat track because of the tourists’ failure to convert their solid start to a stiff score.

Changes expected in the line up:

India:

The change looming since the first T20 international is bringing in Shardul Thakur in place of Khaleel Ahmed. Ahmed has proved to be one potent weak link in their bowling line-up, having conceded precious runs in crucial junctures. Rohit Sharma’s eagerness to experiment may also force him to bring in the leggie Rahul Chahar for Washington Sundar, given the off-spinner has had moderate returns so far.

Bangladesh:

The tourists’ batting order is not expected to see any change; however, Bangladesh may opt for one extra spinner, considering the slow and sluggish nature of Nagpur deck. Bangladesh had a blistering start in the last game, but the middle-order subsided against the spinners. The role of the middle-order batsmen will again be pivotal in handling the Indian spinners in the middle-overs.

The pitch in Nagpur has been traditionally known to assist the spinners. Given a fixture of the shortest format, it might be a good batting track. However, this could again be a difficult pitch for chasing any score.

The weather isn’t threatening and is not expected to play any spoilsport. The forecast is dry for tomorrow with considerable humidity. With the climate news positive, we are likely to witness an enthralling clash in the finale.

Match prediction:

Despite being a competitive series, India will walk in Nagpur as overwhelming favourites to claim the T20 trophy. Bangladesh undeniably can upstage the hosts. However, Rohit Sharma’s men have the psychological edge over the tourists to oust their opponents in pressure situations.

Head to Head stats:

Matches: 10

India won: 9

Bangladesh won: 1

Stats that matter:

Yuzvendra Chahal needs four wickets to become India’s highest wicket-taker in the T20I format. Currently, Ravichandran Ashwin holds the record with 52 wickets. He may overtake Ashwin to achieve the feat on Sunday.

A series win here for Bangladesh would be their first series win against India in any format since 2015. Bangladesh haven’t won a Test or a T20I series against India yet. They won an ODI series against the men in blue in 2015.
