India’s fast bowler Mohammed Shami gave an ideal start to the team with a double strike in his first two overs. In his second over, Mohammed Shami found the gulf between Colin Munro’s bat and pad to hit the top of off-stump. It was an accurate ball from Shami and India had the second scalp of the day.
Meanwhile, Shami drew first blood as Martin Guptill chopped the ball on to his stumps. The right-hander played from the crease and found the inside-edge which deflected on to the stumps. Thus, Shami gave a perfect start to his side. Both Colin Munro and Martin Guptill are dangerous players and it was vital for the visitors to get rid of them quickly.

India gets off to a good start.
On the other hand, New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson won the toss and decided to bat first. This is the first match of the five-match series which is taking place at McLean Park, Napier.
India had a successful tour of Australia and would like to keep the impetus ahead of the World Cup. The visitors won the Test series by 2-1, which was their maiden triumph on the Australian soil. Furthermore, the Men in Blue was able to clinch the ODI series by 2-1.

On the other hand, New Zealand is also in good form in the recent past. The Kiwis had whitewashed the Sri Lankan side by 3-0 in a recently concluded series. However, the hosts will know that India will bring a tough challenge to the table.
New Zealand experienced duo of Ross Taylor and Kane Williamson is at the crease and they would like to take their side to a respectable score.
