The presence of Virat Kohli in the opposition ranks always a headache factor for the team. They need to make certain plans for the run-machine of India, as his consistency in knocking runs matches to none in the world cricket. Meanwhile, the young fast bowler of New Zealand Lockie Ferguson makes his voice on the plans for the Indian skipper.

Virat Kohli scored 45 runs in the first ODI of the game before being dismissed to Lockie Ferguson. He was earlier adjudged Leg Before Wicket in Tim Southee over but the Decision Review System has come to his aid, which over-ruled the on-field decision.

I had some plans but Virat Kohli played well – Lockie Ferguson

The New Zealand fast bowler quoted that he has got some specific plans to counter the Indian skipper. But, he admitted that Virat Kohli has tackled him in a decent way to make things happen for his side. However, he feels that Kohli has got time to work on it, with the score being low on the paper.

Meanwhile, he added that they will work on him in the 2nd ODI to get things to fall in place for New Zealand. Speaking of his own bowling, Lockie added that he would be continuing his aggressiveness on the field and also feels that his mates in the bowling department will do the same.

“[It was] the second time I’ve bowled to him so definitely a challenge – one that I was really keen to get amongst, and I had some plans to him, to try and change up the angles. It didn’t quite come to fruition early on, and he’s a good player, he played well, and with a score like that he could take his time a little bit more.”My plans might be different for Virat than perhaps some of the Sri Lankans, but the mindset doesn’t change,” he quoted.

I am still aggressive:

”I’m still bowling aggressive, and I think the other bowlers will say the same thing. Sometimes you can over scoat and overanalyse and start looking at all the things he does well, and you forget what things you do well. I’m building my scouting plan around what I do well, and try to create plans which can create hesitation or a mistake from him – and in international cricket that little fine line can get you the wickets,” he added.

Well, it would be interesting to see how things would pan out for Lockie Ferguson in the second ODI. Meanwhile, Virat Kohli is on verge of breaking quite a few records, which he would like to do in the next couple of ODI games.

After the next couple of ODI matches, Virat Kohli would return back home handing captaincy reigns to Rohit Sharma. The current Indian skipper is rested for a final couple of ODI games and also 3-match T20I series.
