In ongoing India vs Sri Lanka limited-overs series leg, there seems no respite for the unimpressive Islanders which is lead by Thisara Perera as India comprehensively won the three-match series Twenty20 International opener at Barabati Stadium in Cuttack by 93 runs which was subsequently India’s biggest win in such a format by the margin of runs.
India batters didn’t have the good start on an offer, but they managed to encash the opportunities and plundered the runs at will to pile-up the miseries for the toothless Lions before bowlers did their job to not allow the visiting side even going past 90-run mark.
On a Cuttack like surface, the ball didn’t spin prodigiously, but the hosts’ bowlers maintained the discipline and picked wickets at regular intervals which further saw visitors failed to play even 20 overs when they were rattled at 87 in 16 overs.
With eyes set on the all-important in Indore which has been traditionally helping the batsmen that could further spring a surprise or so with hosts embarking on the South African series slated to beginning from January 5 in 2018.
Imposing India:

India has been dominating the side following the all-round performances and it’s expected Jaydev Unadkat might be replaced by Mohammed Siraj, as Mahendra Singh Dhoni is expected to bat at number four if India would bat first.
The stand-in skipper is equally supported by experienced campaigner Dhoni in the side, as Lankan are expected to find again in the tangle while facing the spin duo in the form of leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav.
Interestingly, Hardik Pandya, who opened the bowling for India before claiming the three wickets in the game, as Jasprit Bumrah might start off the proceedings in the second T20I fixture.
The much-improved fielding from hosts has been a focal point of the management which plays a significant role in such a format of the top-flight cricket.
Having the ability to score at the brisk pace, the top-order batsman Shreyas Iyer has been the great find and opening batsman KL Rahul smashed a half-century on his return in the format which is a great sign for the Team India.
Lacking Lankan:

As the Sri Lankan players would be trying hard to regroup in the second match of the series after plenty of fielding errors led them down before the batsmen fell like the pack of cards.
The basic problem which came to the fore is about the strike bowlers of Lions they did not leave much impact during the bowling which subsequently saw the inexperience has been the major worrying sign for the hapless visitors.
In the first T20I, though expensive the senior campaigners in the form of Angelo Mathews and Thisara Perera were among the wickets, as Vishwa Fernando, Dushmantha Chameera and Akila Dananjaya wicket wicketless which saw them conceding jointly 84 runs in nine overs and this is expected to be harsh in such a short-paced competition.
Moreover, apart from the Dharamsala ODI fixture, the Lankan bowling options are not to be able to penetrate the quality batting line-up which somewhat has a struggling middle-order.
We might not see it as another cakewalk for India, but the dominating hosts are expected to take the unassailable lead of 2-0 and simultaneously seal the series.
It’s expected Rohit Sharma would opt to bowl first on the ground and Thisara Perera is highly-likely going to bat first even if there would be the dew factor coming into the place.
Such would be the mindset of the visiting side after relatively a bleak performance in the series opener.
The team batting first and if happen to be Lanka, they could rack up 155-plus on the board, as India is likely going to go past the 180-run mark while considering the batting surface.
Moreover, Lankan players are expected to give a fight back after surrendering in Cuttack and one is not supposed to rule out the possibility of the comebacks.
