Former India cricketer, Ajit Agarkar will hand over the ODI debut cap to Rishabh Pant who has been picked up for the playing XI against the Windies on October 21 (Sunday). However, India had a great Test match against the Windies. Skipper Kohli, all-rounder Jadeja, and debutant Prithvi Shaw were the three centurions from the first Test match. Later Umesh Yadav played some excellent cricket in the second Test and bagged ten wickets to his name.

Virat Kohli set to return to ODI set up

Now, Virat will lead the team against the Windies for the five-match ODI series. Agarkar is moreover, happy with the inclusion of Jadeja as he can be an extra option in the batting line-up.

“Yeah, I mean with Virat Kohli back, you would think that its enough batting with five specialized bowlers now. If Guwahati may be an afternoon starts may be its dry then you can opt for Jadeja which gives you an extra batting as well at number seven and exceptionally in the field as well.” Ajit Agarkar said.

Meanwhile, Ajit Agarkar had some dilemma with the middle-order batting line up. The top-order batsman like Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, and Virat Kohli are playing some exceptional cricket. Agarkar also feels Rishabh Pant is capable of batting at any order depending on the situation.

“Virat, Rohit, and Shikhar are doing the job are doing the job for a while now for India. I think Pant could very well float. One he is a left-hander. After Shikhar, there is no left-hander in that order so he could float depending on the situation. I am glad that he is being picked up in the squad.” Ajit Agarkar said.

Agarkar also said the Windies have some explosive batsman in their team. Some of them have played some exceptional cricket in Test matches. However, it will be a harsh challenge for the Men in Blue to play against the Windies side.

“No doubt about it. Windies have some explosive batsman. Even the batsman who has played in the Tests they can hit the ball and if its a flat pitch and they get going in one day cricket with two white balls. They could be a dangerous team. West Indies I am sure will pose a stiffer challenge.” Ajit Agarkar concluded.

India will play the first ODI match against Windies on October 21 (Sunday).
