Finally, the bells rang for Mayank Agarwal to receive the international call-up. The right-handed classy batsman has been the unfortunate candidate for the series after the series. He has been the regular run-scorer for the team and got bulk of domestic runs under his kitty. All those hard-earned runs finally paved a way for him. Meanwhile, he credits a part of his success to Rahul Dravid as well.

Mayank Agarwal replaced Shikhar Dhawan in the team after the latter’s poor show in the England tour. In the meantime, the Karnataka batsman raised his bar with an amazing strokeplay across the formats.

The Karnataka opening batsman quoted that he is very happy for the international call-up and added that he is waiting for the call-up for a long time now. He also spoke on the things which keep him focus the game.

When asked about his focus when not being selected despite scoring rich in the domestic cricket, he added saying that there are a lot of matches in the recent past to keep the things going. Mayank also cited that he won’t care about the external factors.

‘Well, very very happy, very excited, looking forward to now being a part of the Indian team,” he said. See, we play a lot of cricket these days and this helps to keep the focus going,” Mayank Agarwal said to Hindustan Times after the announcement of the squad.

”As a player, my job is to go out there and score runs, keep doing the things which are under my control, and not to think about any external factors. I wanted to keep performing, wanted to keep improving with every match and kept looking to score runs,” he added.

Further, the Karnataka batsman revealed the guidance of Rahul Dravid which helped him to come good in each game. He hailed the suggestions given by the legendary person in the coaching staff.

“He is a person we always go to whenever we need some help, you know, for any kind of advice. He kept saying to repeat the process, stick to scoring runs, what has to happen, will happen. I just followed his advice and it helped a lot” the right-hander inferred.

However, the wait was finally over for the flamboyant batsman and now it is the turn for him to show his class to the world. The good performance will ensure a berth for him to tour Australia as well.
