It was their 2nd consecutive whitewash. The Indian colts were also thrashed 3-0 against the New Zealand women following their heartbreaking loss in the ICC World Twenty20 Semifinal against England.

India colts lost the final match against England by a solitary run to lose their 7th match on the trot. Their losing streak started from the World Twenty20 2018 loss to England in the Semi-final. Coming back to the T20I series against England, it was a brilliant knock by opener Smriti Mandhana which helped India coast to the victory target in the 3rd clash. However, with just 3 required of the final over, Mithali Raj couldn’t get the strike and India lost the match by a solitary run. After a sensational start by English openers, the Indian spinners stalled the run flow of England and restricted them to 119 in their allotted 20 overs.

Earlier in the year, the Indian colts were whitewashed in the T20I series in New Zealand as well. The Indian colts lost the opening match of the series by 23 runs in Wellington. They followed it up with a 4 wickets defeat in the 2nd T20I at Eden Park. In the 3rd match, it was a close shave but the Women in Blue ended up losing the clash by just 2 runs.

During the World T20 Semifinal against England, India decided to drop ODI skipper Mithali Raj which led to a huge controversy. India’s previous longest losing streak was 6 consecutive matches during March-November 2016 period. Back then, India had suffered a couple of defeats against Pakistan and Sri Lankan women. It was backed up by 4 consecutive defeats against Windies.
