Indian broadcasters demand the shift in timings from New Zealand Cricket (NZC) that could suit the broadcasting giant Star Sports in the limited-overs leg in the near future.

The current schedule may witness many Kiwi fans to miss their team in action later this summer at Eden Park in Auckland.

An argument between Star Sports and NZC

As per the report published in the New Zealand Herald, the home schedule of 2018-19 has been subjected to hot arguments between Star Sports and NZC.

Pertinently, Star Sports earlier bagged the rights of Black Caps and White Ferns in the sub-continent till 2020. They signed the deal for rights in 2017.

Timings of the matches:

As of now, it has been learnt that Star Sports has asked the management to start an hour earlier at 7:30 IST.

Moreover, India and New Zealand are scheduled to lock horns with each other. The teams may feature in five One-day Internationals and three Twenty20 Internationals.

If we suppose that both teams will bat out their full quota of overs, these matches would finish around 3:30 PM IST.

However, it is worthy to mention that these matches are scheduled to take place in January and February, next year.

Viable options available:

As per the permissions, Eden Park can host 25-night events a year. Also, the events should end at 10:00 PM local time. Considering the demands, the authorities need to extend the time frame.

Auckland City Council (ACC) is the concerned authority that has the right to amend this time frame. The necessary permissions can be achieved for a princely five-figure fee.

The other possible way is that matter needs to be taken into Eden Park Trust. Considering this option, it would not only take months to get a decision. But it would also cost a whopping amount.

Eden Park costs $250,000 for an ODI and that is unlikely to be a negating factor.
