The Indian team is recognised globally for producing some of the most gifted batsmen that the world of cricket has ever witnessed. Team India has produced a whole lot of batting superstars who have contributed to international cricket in a gigantic manner. Be it batsmen, past or present, and the Indian superstars have ruled the world of cricket with their exceptional talent.

There have also been some batting stars in Indian cricket who have announced their arrival in world cricket in style. They have either played humungous innings or saved a game by their outrageous class. Team India has been a dominant force in world cricket, especially in the ODIs. A huge chunk of their success owes to the batsmen who have rescued the team time and again from complex situations.

10. Ravindra Jadeja (60* vs Sri Lanka)

Ravindra Jadeja made his ODI debut for India on February 8, 2009, in a game against Sri Lanka away from home. Batting first, the Lankans gave a massive target of 321 runs to the Indians to chase. No other batsman apart from Yuvraj Singh and MS Dhoni could make a grand contribution as both the stalwarts scored half-centuries.

However, Ravindra Jadeja made a valiant effort to save the game and played a crucial knock of 70 runs. However, his efforts weren’t enough for India to prevent a defeat as the Lankans beat the Men in Blue by 68 runs.

Ambati Rayudu made his debut for the Indian team on July 24, 2013, in a game against Zimbabwe at Harare. The hosts batted first in the first innings and put up a total of 228 runs on the scoreboard in the first innings. Although the Indian openers couldn’t do much in the game, skipper Virat Kohli scored a scintillating century in the game.

Alongside him, was the debutant, Ambati Rayudu, who played a crucial knock of 63 runs and remained not out until the end to assure that the Indian side crossed the finishing line.

8. Sandeep Patil (64 vs Australia)

Former Indian chief selector, Sandeep Patil features on the eighth spot in this list. Sandeep Patil made his debut for India in the ODIs on December 6, 1980, in a game against Australia. Batting first, team India piled up a grand score of 208 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in 49 overs.

Sandeep Patil came up with the grandest contribution as he went on to score 64 runs off 70 balls on his debut. The chase always seemed an uphill ride for the Australians, and they could manage only 142 runs, and the Indian team went on to win the game by 66 runs.

Raman Lamba made his Indian debut in the ODIs on September 7, 1986, in a game against Australia. The Kangaroos batted first in the match and scored 250 runs for the loss of 3 wickets in their stipulated 47 overs.

Team India chased the target in 41 overs, thanks to a special hundred from Kris Srikkanth and a valiant effort from the debutant, Raman Lamba. Raman Lamba played a quickfire knock and scored 64 runs off just 53 balls to hand the win to India.

Ajit Wadekar made his ODI debut for India on July 13, 1974,  in a game against England. Team Indian batted first in the game and were bowled out in 53.5 overs for a score of 265 runs. Brijesh Patel and the debutant Ajit Wadekar scored half0centuries in the game.

Ajit Wadekar made 67 runs off 82 balls in the game to help India post a challenging total. However, Wadekar’s efforts went in vain as the English team mastered the run chase in 51.1 overs, thanks to a 90-run knock by John Edrich.

Manish Pandey made his Indian ODI debut on July 14, 2015, against Zimbabwe at Harare. Team India batted first in the match and posted a total of 276/5 in their 50 overs. All-rounder Kedar Jadhav scored a sensational century in the game to help India post a gigantic score.

Apart from him, debutant Manish Pandey caught all the eyes as he went on to score 71 runs off 86 balls in his first ODI match. The chase proved a steep one for Zimbabwe, and they were bowled out for 193 runs as India went on to win the game by 83 runs.

Navjot Singh Sidhu made his ODI debut for India on October 9, 1987, in a world cup game against Australia. Batting first, Australia posted 270 runs on the scoreboard for the loss of 6 wickets in their stipulated 50 overs. Geoff Marsh scored a scintillating century for the Kangaroos in the game.

Team India began the chase on a high as Kris Srikkanth, and Navjot Singh Sidhu both scored half-centuries to help India come closer to the target. Navjot Singh Sidhu scored 71 runs off 79 balls. However, their effort couldn’t be capitalized upon as the Indian team were bowled out on 269 runs and lost the game by one run.

Brijesgh Patel made his debut for India in the same match as Ajit Wadekar. Team Indian batted first in the game and were bowled out in 53.5 overs for a score of 265 runs. Brijesh Patel and the debutant Ajit Wadekar scored half0centuries in the game.

Brijesh Patel smashed 82 runs off just 78 balls to help India reach a respectable total. However, Patel’s efforts went in vain as the English team mastered the run chase in 51.1 overs, thanks to a 90-run knock by John Edrich.

Robin Uthappa made his ODI debut for India on April 15, 2006, in a game against England. Batting first in the game, the English team posted a gigantic total on the scoreboard as they went on to score a total of 288 runs in their 50 overs, thanks to half-centuries from Kevin Pietersen, Paul Collingwood, and Geraint Jones.

Team India started the chase on a high as debutant Robin Uthappa along with Rahul Dravid had a century partnership for the first wicket. Uthappa scored 86 runs off 96 balls as team India cruised to a seven-wicket victory in the game.

KL Rahul made his debut for India in the ODIs on June 11, 2016, in a game against Zimbabwe. Rahul became the first Indian batsman to score a century in his ODI debut match. Batting first, Zimbabwe were decimated in the game for a total of 168 runs.

Rahul scored a scintillating century for India in the run chase as he went on to score 100 runs off 115 deliveries. Along with Ambati Rayudu, KL Rahul sealed the match for India as the subcontinent-side cruised to a 9-wicket win.
