Indian skipper Mithali Raj wants an Indian Premier League (IPL) style T20 League after Indian’s recent success. Notably, India had a dream run in ICC Women’s World Cup 2017, despite losing the final against England by nine runs in a nail-biting finish.

She revealed that it would help to create a pool of women cricketers just like men’s IPL has done over the years.

Mithali admitted that now the expectations are high and people will be critical of our performances in recent tours.

“Maybe we can come up with an IPL kind of tournament for women. Once these things fall into place then you can have a lot more players who can come in and have a league like that. Things are very bright for women’s cricket and the expectations are so high that the coming matches that we play against South Africa or Australia, people are going to scrutinize our performance and see how the team is doing but that is again a part of being a successful team,” Raj said while having a chat with India Today.

Mithali was awarded Rs 1 crore and a house site of 600 square-feet by the Telangana government a few days back.

Mithali further recalled the warm reception when they landed in Mumbai after a successful World Cup campaign.

“When we reached the airport there was this huge crowd waiting for us and I had all these flashes on me and I just backed off thinking they have the wrong people. Half of the girls were traveling with me and were asking ‘Didi what will happen and how will we reach the bus?’ I said that we will manage somehow, it was a shock to us,” 35-year-old Mithali stated.
