Indian World Cup-Winner Working In Eatery To Make Ends Meet
Not every youngster goes on to achieve what the likes of Yuvraj Singh, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli achieve after making a mark in Under-19 cricket. While some fail to live up to expectations after being drafted into the senior team, some never manage to get a call from the national team and keep on grinding in domestic cricket. But while they are fortunate enough to continue playing cricket at a good level, there are some who are not that lucky.
And one such name is Perry Goyal. The 28-year old is a right-hand batsman and wicketkeeper who was included in India’s Under-19 squad for the World Cup in 2008 although he did not play any match in the tournament as Virat Kohli led the team to the title. Goyal had hogged the limelight after scoring 113 for Punjab U-15s against Delhi in the Polly Umrigar Trophy in 2004-05. He was soon fast-tracked into the Punjab senior side, where he failed to make any mark.
With nothing working out, he soon quit the game for management career. Earlier reports had suggested that he was a director of a company, RSG group. However, some latest reports are suggesting that the former India u-19 player has opened a eatery shop in Ludhiana.
Meanwhile, Goyal is not the only cricketer from the 2008 World Cup-squad who has quit the game. Ajitesh Argal, who had bagged the Man of the Match in the final, has also parted his ways with the game and is now working as an Income Tax department inspector in Vadodara. Napolean Einstein has also quit the game.
