Promising Indian opener Prithvi Shaw has already made a name for himself in international cricket. The teenage sensation hit a sublime 69-ball 66 on his maiden inning in Australia. The 19-year-old enjoyed the bounce of the wicket and punched his way to glory. Just when it all seemed to be going in India’s way, there has been a news of concern.
The youngster suffered a freakish injury on day 3 of the warm-up match against Cricket Australia XI in Sydney. Shaw rolled his left ankle while attempting a catch on the boundary line. He had to be carried off the field during the tour game. It does’t look good for India especially since the young gun has been in good nick.

It was Max Bryant who hit a lusty blow. Shaw attempted the catch and tried to keep himself away from the boundary rope. He went down on the ground in pain and the Indian physio had to intervene. He looked in significant pain and later on went to the hospital for scan. He later returned on crutches and an update is due.

“The medical team is assessing Prithvi Shaw at the moment,” the BCCI tweeted. “He hurt his left ankle while attempting to take a catch at the boundary ropes. Shaw is being taken to the hospital for scans.”

The Indian management will be concerned as it will be a big blow if he doesn’t get first for the first Test in Adelaide in a weeks time. The visitors hardly have any options as KL Rahul has been going through poor form and recalled bats,an Murali Vijay hasn’t got a game since the England tour.
Batting coach Sanjay Bangar has been mighty pleased with the youngster. “In whichever format he’s played he’s made a mark straightaway,” he said. “Wherever he has played he has shown he can adapt to conditions and the stage as well. He plays with a lot of clarity and the impressive thing about him is he gets into good position. The fearlessness of youth probably helps him.” he added.
