Sunrisers Hyderabad will have to play without the services of lanky speedster Billy Stanlake after the fast bowler was ruled out of the tournament after fracturing his 5th finger on the right hand. The franchise confirmed on Tuesday that the bowler won’t be available for the rest of the tournament. His fractured his finger during the match against the Chennai Super Kings which SRH narrowly lost by 4 runs.

The Indian and the Australian orthopaedic specialists who had a look at his injury have advised him to take rest. He will need to undergo a surgical reduction and fixation to make him restore his functioning on the finger. The franchise also confirmed the fact that the tall 23-year-old fast bowler has gone back to his nation and won’t be available for the remainder of the tournament.

There are a few possible players who can replace Stanlake in the Hyderabad squad. Here is a list of 5 such players who are the potential replacements of Stanlake.

Lockie Ferguson

The fast bowler from New Zealand remained unsold in the IPL auctions. However, he is genuinely a fine prospect and has done well for New Zealand in his short career so far. Ferguson was part of the Rising Pune Supergiant squad in the previous edition of the tournament. He was part of the playing XI in only 4 matches and ended up bagging 3 wickets. He was impressive in one of the matches and bagged a couple of wickets in one of the matches and was awarded the Man of the Match. However, he couldn’t find a permanent spot in the team. Unfortunately, he went unsold this year.

Tymal Mills

The left-arm pacer from England was bought by the Royal Challengers Bangalore for a whopping Rs 12 crores last year. He was coming off some wonderful performances in the domestic T20 circuit and had also performed well during the T20I series against just before the IPL last year. However, he failed to make an impact for Bangalore as they had a horrendous season. Mills himself couldn’t quite deliver when required. However given his exceptional skills in the shortest version of the game, he might be a possible contender for the replacement of Stanlake.

Dawlat Zadran

Afghanistan players have been making quite a mark in the ongoing IPL so far. Rashid Khan has been a champion bowler for Hyderabad since last year. He went for a tap in a couple of matches but bounced back strongly against the Mumbai Indians. Mujeeb Zadran has also performed brilliantly for the Kings XI Punjab. We might see another Afghan player making IPL debut. Dawalt Zadran who has been an impressive performer for the national team is a possible candidate for the replacement of Stanlake. Dawlat bowls at the right areas and has been impressive in his international career so far.

The South African fast bowler has been a consistent performer in the domestic circuit. However, he burst on to the international scene very recently. It was during the T20I series against India that Dala made his presence felt. India was by far the better side during the limited over series. However, Dala did make a difference in the T20I series. In his debut, Dala dismissed Rohit Sharma and Suresh Raina and added 3 more to his kitty in the decider. He made batsman hurry for pace. Dala might well be the perfect replacement for Stanlake.

Matt Henry

The fast bowler from New Zealand was as part of the player’s auction this year. With a base price of Rs 50 lakhs, the fast bowler remained unsold. Henry was part of the Chennai Super Kings squad in the 2015 edition. However, he only played two matches. He is a skiddy customer and can hurry the opposition batsmen with his pace. Given his height and pace, he might well be a like for like replacement for Stanlake.
