The penultimate fixture of the round-robin league of the Indian Premier League, belonged to hosts Delhi Daredevils, who completes their campaign this season, spoiling the party of Mumbai Indians (MI).

After a dismal season, Ricky Ponting will be delighted to end up with 10 points and hope for a better IPL season of 2019.

Here’s a look at the five game-changing moments:

Daredevils were off to a reckless start as they kept losing wickets in pursuit of boundaries. Ponting surprised one and all with his ploy of sending a struggling Glenn Maxwell at the top. However, the tactic did not work for long.

Prithvi Shaw was run out under mysterious circumstances, while Shreyas Iyer could not finish off his IPL campaign desirably. As a result, Daredevils were reduced to 75 for three in nine overs, providing Indians with a chance to restrict them to a chasable score.

Rishabh Pant’s flamboyant knock:

Daredevils’ talismanic wicketkeeper-batsman, Rishabh pant was unstoppable yet again as he smashed 64 off just 44 deliveries.

During his flamboyant knock, Pant caressed four boundaries and as many many maximums to challenge Rohit Sharma’s ploys.

Also, with the help of his brilliant finish to the tournament, Pant surpassed Williamson in the tally of runs to secure the Orange Cap.

Shankar-Abhishek finish:

After the solid platform laid by Rishabh Pant, the onus was then on the likes of Vijay Shankar and Abhishek Sharma to provide the final flourish.

The duo did not disappoint as they took the Daredevils score above 170, by adding 45 in the final three overs.

Shankar continued his form with his 43 which came off just 30 balls, smashing three fours and a couple of maximums.

Evin Lewis onslaught:

Chasing a challenging score of 174, losing Suryakumar Yadav was a big blow to Mumbai’s chances to book their place into the playoffs.

However, Lewis caused havoc within the Daredevils’ camp with his 48 which came off just 31 deliveries. The powerful Windies smashed three boundaries and four maximums during his onslaught.

Indians were well on course to chase down the total when Lewis was at the crease. Unfortunately, the opener did not receive enough support at the other end to form a substantial partnership.

Amit Mishra and Sandeep Lamichhane caused all the mayhem. Whereas, Rohit Sharma would look back at the loss which knocked them out of the tournament.

The duo shared six wickets between themselves which blew away Mumbai’s long batting order. Mishra was also at his economic best as he conceded only 19 runs in his spell.

Lamichhane’s three-wicket haul provided the necessary relaxation for the pace bowlers, as Harshal Patel enjoyed the three wickets for Delhi Daredevils.
