Chennai Super Kings fast bowler, Deepak Chahar has returned to practice and is expected to play a part in CSK’s upcoming game against the Rajasthan Royals at the Sawai Man Singh Stadium.
He sustained the injury while playing against Delhi Daredevils at the MCA Stadium in Pune. He was suspected to be away from the cricketing circuit for at least a couple of weeks. However, he was seen practising at the Sawai Man Singh Stadium, Chennai’s venue for their next game against the Royals on Friday.
Chahar has played seven matches for the Chennai Super Kings in the tournament so far before getting sidelined due to an injury. He was quite impressive during his stint for the team and bagged six wickets in the process.
He bagged his best bowling figures against the Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. He returned with 3/15 which was instrumental in Chennai securing a victory against the No 1 team on the points table at the moment.

Dhoni had entrusted him to mostly bowl in the powerplay overs. He hasn’t disappointed at all and has been a go-to man for the Captain Cool.
If Chahar returns for the next game, in all likelihood, Shardul Thakur will get sidelined. He hasn’t had a great IPL so far especially compared to Chahar’s. Chennai who finds themselves in a pretty comfortable position has struggled on tracks where it has been nothing on offer for either the pacers nor the spinners.
Meanwhile, Chahar entered into the auction of the tournament at a base price of INR 20 lakh. He was eventually bought by the Chennai Super Kings. The Kings XI Punjab and the Delhi Daredevils also bid for him. However, CSK had the last laugh, and the franchise has repaid faith showed in him.
Chennai will look to seal their spot in the playoffs which looks a certainty now. They have played some good cricket and will to continue their exceptional run in the tournament so far.
