Kolkata Knight Riders captain, Dinesh Karthik has credited Delhi Daredevils batters in their loss at Feroz Shah Kotla. The visitors had won the toss and put Delhi into bat on a flat batting pitch.

There is a change of mood in the Delhi camp with a new skipper, Shreyas Iyer. The team management decided to drop Gautam Gambhir from the team.

Young Indian cricketer, Prithvi Shaw rose to the occasion in only his second IPL game. He scored an impressive 62 runs from just 44 balls and got plenty of support from New Zealand batsman Colin Munro.

Captain Shreyas Iyer is at a different level with his batting altogether. He ripped Kolkata bowlers apart, and his quick runs, in the end, pushed the score from 200 to 219. Glenn Maxwell had struggled but got his timing back during the fag end of the innings.

Having asked to chase a mammoth 220, Kolkata lost early wickets which hampered their progress. Sunil Narine quick heroics did not last long.

Once again, young Indian cricketer, Shubman Gill impressed alongside Andre Russell. With other batsmen not coming into the fray, it was too big a task for the duo, as they eventually crumbled.

Kolkata Knight Riders suffered a massive 55-run defeat, and Karthik was quick to acknowledge the quality of cricket played by Delhi team. Speaking in the post-match presentation, Dinesh Karthik said,

“220 is a big task, if the dew had come in, it would have made it easy for us but today was that sort of a day where there was no dew. I thought they really batted much better than us. If Russell starts hitting, he gives us hope, but he is also a human being. We need to put our hands up and say we didn’t play good cricket.”

Asked about spinners going for a lot of runs in the game, Karthik has insisted he is quite happy to bowl them even in the powerplay overs.

“Three spinners doesn’t generally go for a lot of runs. I am comfortable in bowling them in the powerplay. I think we really need to wake up in the fielding department. We need to improve our fielding standard, and that should turn around the things for us,” he added.
