Rajasthan Royals mentor, Shane Warne was left disappointed with his side’s performance against Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens.

Having won the toss and electing to field first, Rajasthan Royals were on top from the off. They removed four wickets in just seven overs and looked the better side. However, young Shubman Gill rose to the occasion and helped skipper Dinesh Karthik in stabilising the innings.

Once he got dismissed, Andre Russell came up big with his bat. The big West Indies cricketer scored quick runs and got Kolkata to a par score of 169.

Rajasthan openers were on top in their chase. They made quick runs in power play, but once the middle overs started, the flow subsided.

When the pressure mounted, both Rahane and Sanju Samson departed in quick succession. The new batsmen could not cope up with the pace of the wicket which in turn helped Kolkata. The run rate eventually exceeded the reach of the batsmen and Kolkata managed to coast to an easy win at the end.

Shane Warne, who worked hard with the group, could not bear the way his team had played and expressed his dissatisfaction over a tweet.

“What a disappointing end this is, wasted to many balls & didn’t take the game on in the middle. That game was there to win & the boys should have got over the line ! Very proud of the entire squad though as they tried their best ! Just hurts as that’s a game we should have won !,” his tweet read.

Rajasthan Royals Continue Unearthing New Talent

The franchise has kept its traditional roots at its core once again. Rajasthan Royals have come up with some sensational talents this season. Be it Shreyas Gopal or serial performer like Krishnappa Gowtham; the franchise got its ways.

When Steve Smith got banned from IPL 2018, not many gave any chance to Rajasthan Royals. But the team worked as a group and mustered a well working team to get them significant wins.

Overall they had a great season, but they could have achieved more if they did not play the way they chased the total at Eden Gardens on Wednesday.
